How To Sew A Retro Apron for Women // A Printable Sewing Pattern + Tutorial // Full, Half, Double Skirts, and Sweetheart Neckline Aprons
Retro aprons are super popular these days – and if you have been wondering how to make your own apron, this is the perfect sewing pattern for you! Sew your own women’s retro apron for a cute and fun addition to your kitchen décor that is truly timeless. The Jessie Apron is as cleverly designed as the gorgeous retro dresses from the 50s with a three-piece sweetheart neckline bodice that molds to the female shape instead of just covering up, a curved slimming waistband, flattering full circle skirts, and a pocket large enough to hold essentials. Make your favorite version – a full apron with either a single skirt or with double skirts OR a half apron with either a single circle skirt or double skirts in a cute cotton print for ease of care. Cute and practical, wear your “me-made” Jessie Apron to make cooking, entertaining, and cleaning fun. It is sure to become one of your go-to accessories and you will want to make one for every season and occasion. You may find creating these beauties to be so easy that you make them for your friends, family, and even to sell online or at craft shows, which is awesome (see the copyright details below)! Sewing Pattern Apron Skirt: Dirndl Skirt for Girls (PDF) (INSTANT DOWNLOAD, ePattern)
I still have my German dirndl from the time I lived there as a little girl. The apron-over-skirt is such a timeless look–fanciful and practical at once. I wanted to make my little girls full, dirndl skirts complete with aprons and ties, but I didn’t want the trouble of continually having to pick up the apron and tie it on again. It’s difficult enough to maintain a bow! So this skirt has the apron integrated, so it can’t fall off. My Dirndl Skirt has a flat waist in front and a ruffled gathered waist in back with apron ties. It’s full for twirling and running, and has patch pockets on the apron for carrying along “friends” or collecting treasures. I have created the Dirndl Skirt in two versions—with a rounded apron and pockets and rickrack trim, and with a square apron and pockets (please see my other listsings for photos). I love both! You can also leave off the ties if you prefer as the elastic waist in back has a cute ruffled casing. The Dirndl Skirt will fit any size girl as it is a custom-fitted skirt. You will measure and cut your own pieces for the skirt, apron, pockets and waistband. If you are making the square apron there is nothing to print! If you are making the round apron, there is only one page
to print: the templates for creating the curves on the pocket and apron. This pattern will walk you through taking the measurements to make a Dirndl Skirt to fit you’re little, or grown-up girl, perfectly. It is easier than it sounds—just rectangles! The most difficult part is deciding on your fabric combination. I love a printed skirt with plain apron or vice versa, but a combination of prints would be cute too. This pattern is suitable for a beginner sewer. It just requires some basic hemming and gathering in addition to straight stitching. This is a 23 page PDF file with detailed instructions and lots of photographs to make it easy to sew a Dirndl Skirt of your own. The skirt requires about a yard each of two different fabrics for the apron and skirt, some elastic interfacing and thread. That’s it. If you have any questions please contact me. **This is a PDF file, which you can download immediately after payment.** Thank you!
