This pattern, Journey to Hogwarts is part of my brand new Harry Potter-inspired series. This design features The Hogwarts Express on its way to Hogwarts, with the flying Ford Anglia overhead. Design fits in an 8” embroidery hoop. This is a 28 page pattern and guide. Throughout this guide, you’ll find a traceable template, a full stitch library, color guide, supplies list, and instructions for preparing and finishing your hoop. I will take you through design step by step, with diagrams, photos, and helpful tips along the way. I am asked all the time about different patterns and how beginner-friendly they are. Some of my patterns are definitely more advanced than others, but my answer is usually a lot more user-dependent. I ask people to tell me whether they have any fiber experience already–sewing, weaving knitting, cross-stitch, because any experience with fiber is helpful and gives you a head start. Patterns like this one, where the hoop is filled with stitching,
can look really daunting–nobody is going to stitch this quickly. Part of the embroidery process is learning to slow down, to lean into the process, and to be okay with working on the same project for more than a sitting or two. This pattern will take some stamina. An ambitious beginner can totally do it but it is probably best-suited to someone who has at least a little embroidery experience. All of my patterns are designed to go hand-in-hand with my free video tutorials at larkrisingembroidery.com. If you’re a beginning stitcher, these videos will teach you how to do all of the stitches described in this pattern.
