A super warm snood, a cosy balaclava and a functioning hood, all in one! The perfect layering accessory. With step by step, easy to follow instructions it’s a fast but fun project using the following techniques: Long tail cast on, 1×1 rib stitch, stocking stitch, increasing and decreasing, knitting in the round, picking up stitches, Invisible seam or crochet join. Skill Level: Easy/Intermediate. Yarn: Aran/Worsted weight yarn. Suggested Needle Size: 6.5mm/US 10.5 circular knitting needles, length 50cm/20” and 7mm/US 10.5 knitting needles. Size: One Size. The bug hood has a neck circumference of 33cm/13” flat. Due to the nature of the ribbed knit, it can stretch comfortably to a circumference of up to 66cm/26” to fit over the head. Friend of the Forest Hood Size Medium This particular design represents a perfect confluence of events; first, I got a request for a hooded cowl with a rounded crown, and then I found this rather spectacular alpaca yarn in the sale bin at my local yarn shop and knew that it would be perfect for the job. And if that isn’t delightful enough, I also played a harrowing game of yarn chicken and managed to finish this medium size hood with just two skeins of the yarn.
