The artwork that led to the pattern FOLD began as a study of the ways in which I use ink and brush to describe the ways fabric is represented. I choose to look at Matisse (mainly because I really love the way he paints textiles such as stripes, and the dresses and clothing of his models. It just feels lyrical and in the moment). I made lines, marks and shapes that felt like they could show the way in which something draped and folded. Originally I set out to make one pattern, but in the end we decided that the artwork felt best as 2 different patterns – DRAPE and FOLD. Fabric content: 50% linen/ 50% cotton width: 52\
