Along with the Red Heart Boutique Swanky yarn that I used in my last post I also received a ball of another new Red Heart yarn, Heads Up. I got the bright coral color which was really fun and bright. I thought it would make a cute hat for one of my little girls. I loved the bright color, I thought it was something a little different than anything I had ever gotten before but really pretty and fun. It was however, extremely difficult to photograph and show the true color. It is a bulky yarn and it is really soft and squishy. I really liked working with it. To be honest, I can’t really think of anything I didn’t like about it. I definitely think this is a yarn I will use again. I loved the softness and thickness of the yarn, I think it will be really nice and warm for my little girls. I also felt like it had really great stitch definition, I think this would be great if you are looking for a bulky yarn for something that you really want your stitch pattern to stand out. I wanted to make something that had a lot of texture, something simple but interesting. I loved the thickness of the yarn and wanted to accent that with a stitch that added more thickness and texture. I wanted a nice, warm, squishy hat. I made a toddler size hat first, it fits my 1 1/2 year old and my almost 3 year old. The pictures show it on my almost 3 year old. After I finished I still had quite a bit of yarn left, I thought maybe it was close to half so I tried to make another one so that they could have matching hats. I did not end up having enough for another toddler size hat so one hat takes a little over half of the ball. I decided to size it down a little and made one that is approximately 6-12 month size. I was able to finish it with very little yarn to spare. Like, maybe a yard of yarn left, so depending on how you crochet and how long you leave your ends you might be able to get a toddler size and a 6 month size out of one ball. Without further ado, the pattern… Textured Toddler Beanie You will need: Red Heart Heads Up y
