Classroom: Garter-Stitch Scarf \u0026 Sideways Handwarmers Pattern

Classroom: Garter-Stitch Scarf \u0026 Sideways Handwarmers Pattern

The Design “A very good place to start.” This Churchmouse Classroom First Projects pattern is about as simple as it gets—just knit, knit, knit. When you turn garter stitch on its side, the little ridges create a ribbed effect that is nice and stretchy, making the handwarmers easy to fit, with just a wee bit of seaming around the thumbs. Handsome on men and women alike, these easy pieces make great gifts. From you, the knitter! PHOTO TUTORIALS IN THIS PATTERN: The anatomy of garter stitch Mattress-stitch seaming in garter stitch, end-to-end. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: the long-tail cast-on method, the knit stitch, adding a new ball, binding off, and weaving in tails. Need help with any of these techniques? See our Learn-To-Knit Companion booklet. Knitter’s Notes The Details FINISHED SIZES Scarf: Approx. 6½\

Knit Scarf Pattern: Single and Double Brioche Stitch Scarf Knitting Pattern

Knit Scarf Pattern: Single and Double Brioche Stitch Scarf Knitting Pattern

This scarf is made using both a single and a double brioche stitch. The single brioche is similar to a traditional ribbing, so it is used for the center part of the scarf. The panels are made using the double brioche stitch. In almost every case, the brioche stitches are light and fluffy. You can put them on virtually any needle that you like. If you use a smaller than suggested needle, the material will be denser, but still on the “fluffy side.” If you use much larger needles, it will appear similar to lace. In this case, I just went up one needle size. You can experiment and see if you like it better going up two needle sizes. There are also instructions for an optional edging should you wish to do that. The blocking stage of this stitch is also very important and suggestions on how to do it are included in that section. If you are interested in brioche knitting patterns, there are four scarves listed in the eclectic scarf section that are knitted using variations of the brioche stitch. This one is the easiest of the four, and therefore a good one to learn on. Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a working knowledge of Knitting, Purling and YO’s) The sample shown here was made using Lorna Laces Honor Yarn in Glendale, and was expertly pattern tested by Deb Terrio, who can be contacted at: jstdt3t [!at] yahoo.com This is a listing for a pattern and not for the finished item. Knit Scarf Pattern: My Favorite Cable Lace Turtleneck Scarf Knitting Pattern

Knit Scarf Pattern: My Favorite Cable Lace Turtleneck Scarf Knitting Pattern

If you love knitting cable lace, you will truly enjoy making and using this stitch pattern. It makes a lovely scarf, but of course, you can use the stitch pattern for any flat garment that you like. This pattern for a knitted scarf is written so that you may choose whether you would like to use either sport weight yarn or worsted weight yarn. Should you elect to make the scarf with the turtleneck, even the sport weight will keep you warm. If you would like to make it a blanket, use the worsted weight, with as much yardage necessary to get the blanket that you desire. The focal stitch is both written out, and charted, and
there are directions for an optional crocheted edging for both gauges. Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a good working knowledge of cabling and lace knitting.) Skill Level for the optional Edging: Intermediate (assuming a working knowledge of crocheting) The scarf shown in the sample was made with Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sport Weight yarn in colorway, Chocolate. This is a listing for a pattern, and NOT the finished product. If you would like this pattern knit for you, please contact Debi Maige at: dmaige1 [!at] gmail.com Thanks for stopping by.
